Two Men

The story of Two Men takes place in a highly theatricalized setting, namely an arched iron cage. Two men fall in love with each other in an all-male world. As their relationship develops, however, it is no longer their own personal matter, but rather a jarring dissonance in this masculine world. The minorities express their needs, but their expression seems so powerless and fragile in comparison with the society at large. Nevertheless, the yearning for ideals in their tender souls never fades.

Extremely Cruel Sadistic Story: The Phantom of Love

Theater is a fictional world constructed for the viewers. To substitute our ideal selves through imitation, we seek inspirations in such performative acts to satisfy our subconscious and primitive needs for blood and thrill. In reality individual selves are always trapped in a state of isolation, constantly trying to communicate in some deep levels while always falling to do so. This need for intimacy is extended to the virtual world as we try establish the existence of the self. The four parallel stories are implicitly linked, and serve as each other’s metaphors.

Philomirrophobia II

Last year Chinese painter Yuke Qin showed his experimental short film, Philomirrophobia, at the Montreal World Film Festival. This year he artfully questions his own "coming out". He elaborates: "I'd like to tell you about my love story. But my love story may sound really disappointing to you, because love never happened to me. I have never had any intimate relationship or intimate physical contact with anyone. I grew up determined to love the homosexual, and to accept my own sexual orientaion." -- Yuke Qin
