Terror Nullius

Hitch a ride into the dark heart of Australia with Soda_Jerk's TERROR NULLIUS, a blistering, badly behaved sample-based film that confronts the horror of our contemporary moment. Equal parts political satire, eco-horror and road movie, TERROR NULLIUS is a rogue remapping of national mythology, where a misogynistic remark is met with the sharp beak of a bird, feminist bike gangs rampage and bicentenary celebrations are ravaged by flesh-eating sheep. By intricately remixing fragments of Australia's pop culture and film legacy, TERROR NULLIUS interrogates the unstable entanglement of fiction that underpins this country's vexed sense of self.

Pig Earth

Pig Earth traces a sequence of conditions through which consciousness emerges, organises, and ultimately fractures under its own weight. It follows the slow organisation of mind from instinct into structure, from structure into consciousness, only for this awareness to rupture, turning back upon the organism that hosts it. If evolution tends toward efficiency, then consciousness appears excessive. If it tends toward survival, then consciousness appears compromised. The conscious animal becomes the animal that hesitates, the animal that suffers its own awareness, the animal for whom existence is no longer given but must be continually reckoned with. In this sense, consciousness may be less a culmination than a misstep: not the enlightenment of the organism, but its undoing.

The Fork in the Road

The film follows the boy who is escaping within himself. He is caught up in fantasies in the woodland that reflect the trials he faces in the real world. As these occur, there are glimpses of his parallel life in the real world, experiences of the boy who chose not to follow the divergent path, but to return home to an uncomfortable situation. It is a coming of age fairy story that has some gripping episodes, where an audience will feel pity and fear for the survival of the twin protagonists and ultimately delight as all is resolved.
