Frammenti di una Festa Furiosa

Furio’s Furious Fragments & Friends - Furio Jesi (1941 Turin -1980 Genoa), enfant prodige moving between a plethora of disciplines – egyptology, history of religions, German philology, literary criticism - passed away prematurely, not without leaving bright fragments which throw light on mechanisms beneath many socio-cultural practices, for instance regarding cultural belonging, the functions of myth in modern society. He saw kind of “mythological machines” at work underneath our cultural production of meanings, historically determined, departing from a void, something that is still in culture but as residue, a missing link to an alleged authentic experience nowadays compromised up to the point to became just rhetoric, a byword, which is in no way neutral, but a tool, a macchina, for maintaining the status quo and serving the power apparatus. As in the case of holidays, celebrations and festivals.

7 Themes for the Peri-Urban Landscape in Umbria

An exploration between the dreamlike and the real of the Umbrian landscape, defined as the "green heart of Italy", but like other Italian landscapes it hides contradictions, low-altitude flights and shaded areas. We are in Umbria, in the center of the Italian peninsula. A child runs through the green landscape, with a strip of sky on his head. Its run becomes a bird's eye view and we have the opportunity to visit the landscape from above until a dip makes us plunge into the gray of the urban, in the abandoned factories, the steel mill stands behind the vegetation and the now grown child will always seek to return to the green, becoming a landscape himself.

Heimat

Halfway between a documentary and an artistic installation, Heimat, starting from the creative fragmentation of the Last Letters from Stalingrad, a collection of letters written in December 1942 by German soldiers besieged in the Stalingrad sack, is a sensorial and universal investigation of that very mysterious object that is the memory of Home: a mysterious, elusive object, always on the verge of fading. In Heimat, the paste of old family films, brushstrokes of color and chemical residues of decomposing film coexist. A reality that becomes oneiric, almost hallucinatory.
