Miss Suwanna of Siam

The film is a romance about a young woman named Suwanna who is the object of affection for many men. In her search for true love, she has many adventures and mishaps, including overcoming her father's disapproval, before finally finding her soulmate. It was one of first feature films to be made in Thailand, and was the first Hollywood co-production in Thailand. Unfortunately, nothing of the film exists today except for some promotional materials and other ephemera held at the Thailand National Film Archive.

The Ghoul

In a quiet riverside village, rumors spread that a takian tree is haunted, and that its spirit has begun walking among the living as a beautiful but terrifying apparition. When the ghostly woman appears, everyday routines collapse into paranoia and slapstick panic, with villagers bolting through fields, hiding wherever they can, and turning on each other in their scramble to survive the night. A flickering, fragmentary glimpse of early Thai horror where comedy and dread share the same shadow.

Construction of Memorial Bridge

A visual document of the construction of Memorial Bridge, built as part of the celebration of Bangkok’s 150th anniversary. The highlight is when the cameraman, Pao Wasuwat, climbs into a basket and is lifted by a construction crane to capture the top view of the site, an act of improvisation that testified to his cinematic ingenuity. Chamberlain Manit Naret’s facial expressions as the camera looks unblinkingly at him speak a thousand words. Manit would later become an actor in many Thai feature films in the 1950s.
