นีล (ซิลเลียน เมอร์ฟี่ย์) คือชายหนุ่มผู้คลั่งไคล้การดูหนังและเป็นเจ้าของร้านวีดิโอแห่งหนึ่งที่หวังว่าชีวิตของเขาจะมีอะไรเหมือนกับหนังแนวฟิล์มนัวร์ในดวงใจ จนเมื่อไวโอเล็ต (ลูซี่ ลิว) หญิงร้ายซ่อนเล่ห์ตัวจริงเข้ามาเปลี่ยนชีวิตของนีลจนแทบแยกไม่ออกระหว่างโลกความจริงกับโลกในหนัง จนบางครั้งความรักมันก็พิลึกกว่าเรื่องแต่งตั้งเยอะ

A man in his mid-20s, still living at home with his mother and stepfather, puts all his eggs in one basket: the girl who works at his local coffee shop. The problem is, she has a serious boyfriend.
